Assistant Restaurant Manager

Location: The Machrie Hotel and Golf Links 

Principle Purpose:  

You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager and oversee the day-to-day running operation of the restaurant in The Machrie Hotel and Golf Links. You will ensure that guests are served in a relaxed yet professional manner, in keeping with our core values.

Bar & Waiting Staff and Supervisors

Restaurant Manager/ Food & Beverage Manager

General Duties 

• Welcome and converse with guests in a polite and friendly manner 
• Create a relaxed and positive atmosphere for guests in all restaurant areas 
• Help ensure the continued smooth running of Breakfast, Lunch and Evening service in the designated restaurant by serving in a warm and purposeful manner 
• Be hands-on in your approach 
• Always exceed guest expectations by supervising the restaurants in a relaxed but professional way 
• Supervise functions and events in a professional manner, ensuring the highest level of customer service 
• Work with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager to improve all aspects of our food service 
• Handle guest complaints, requests and enquiries in a relaxed yet professional manner 
• To maintain sufficient stock levels for service, and to complete ordering where necessary 

Essential: 

• Previous experience in a supervisory/management role in a similar setting 
• Prior experience managing a team 
• Good knowledge of customer care and complaint handling 
• Barista experience 
• Computer literate 
• Confident, bright, outgoing personality 
• Passion for providing best customer experience possible 
• Passion for food and drink both in and out of work 
• Wine and drinks knowledge 
• Calm under pressure 
• Good organisational skills 

Preferred : 

• Personal License 

Policy & Procedure 

• Comply with all licensing laws 
• Ensuring opening and closing tasks are performed to a high standard and recorded in risk proof 

Essential:

Health & Safety 

• Ensure the Health and Safety Policy is always implemented, and that any issues that arise are dealt with swiftly 

Essential: 

• First Aid certificate 
• Expert knowledge of food hygiene 

People & Communication 

• Assist the Restaurant Manager in the recruitment of staff for the restaurant 
• Support the restaurant manager in the ongoing training, development and performance management of a large team 
• Assistant other departments and staff where necessary 

Essential: 

• Natural leadership and management qualities 
• Ability to work in a team 
• Excellent time management and delegation skills 
• Good listener and understanding towards team members 

Financials? 

• Check and authorize rotas, timesheets and wages against business needs and budgeted figures 
• Order stock to reflect levels of trading 

Essential: 

• Budgetary and costing experience 
• Experience in cash handling 

BCorp 

• Ensure you have a good understanding of why we are working towards a BCorp accreditation 
• Demonstrate and encourage a shared responsibility to look after our teams and planet by using the correct waste streams, using initiatives to reduce packaging and waste and looking to reuse as many things as possible
