Spa Therapist

Location: The Machrie Hotel and Golf Links, The Isle of Islay 

Principle Purpose:  

To carry out beauty treatments to the required standard in line with brand standards.

What qualities and qualifications are essential or desirable in this role  

General Duties 

• Offer guests refreshments (when appropriate) and discuss the treatment with them before beginning 
• Keep snug area clean and tidy to the required standard at all time  
• Deliver a range of beauty treatments to the standards defined by the Swim Club Manager within the time period specified 
• Treatments include but not limited to: massages, facials etc. 
• Upsell and promote retail products where appropriate 
• Take bookings accurately and discuss treatment list with guests giving professional advice where needed 
• Keep treatment rooms clean and tidy to the required standards at all times 
• Manage day booking effectively, taking into account any changes, in order to meet the changing needs of our guests 
• Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order, reporting issues to maintenance/Swim Club Manager where appropriate 
• Ensure all guest feedback (good and bad) is passed on to the Swim Club Manager 
• Attend relevant training as and when required    
• Carry out any other reasonable requests 

Essential: 

• NVQ level 3 in beauty therapy or equivalent qualification i.e. BTEC or ITEC level 3 
• Great attention to detail 
• Highly organised and good at time management 
• Discrete 
• Reliable 
• Able to multi-task 
• Self-motivated and able to work under their own initiative 

Preferred: 

• Qualifications in holistic therapies  
• Pregnancy and hot stones massage 
• Experience working within the hospitality industry 

Policy & Procedure  

• To ensure your personal presentation and appearance is of a high standard and in keeping with the Hotel’s uniform standards and grooming policy  
• Ensure all clients complete a medical questionnaire prior to start of any treatments and that any issues that are communicated to the senior therapist on duty
